Affiliate membership

If you're a GP Trainee in England you can sign up for MDU Affiliate membership - FREE - anytime during your training.

GPST Membership

If you're a GP Trainee in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales, you can sign up for GP Trainee Essentials - FREE - when you become an MDU GPST member.

Once you're signed up, you'll receive a code from the MDU so you can get GP Trainee Essentials as a free member benefit!

How does GP Trainee Essentials work?

How long do I get access to GP Trainee Essentials for?
GP Trainee Essentials runs from August 1st to July 31st the following year. If you sign up part-way through the training year, you will have access until 31st July.

If you're a GPST 1 or GPST 2, you can sign up for the package again the following training year when you continue your GPST or Affiliate Membership with the MDU.
How do I get my MDU code?
If you're an MDU Affiliate member or a GPST member, simply get in touch with the MDU to get your code for free access to GP Trainee Essentials. And if you're not yet an MDU member, simply get in touch with them to sign up and get your code!
Where do I find out the webinars included with GP Trainee Essentials?
We'll publish details of our GP Trainee Essentials webinars throughout the training year. You'll find details on webinar topics and live dates in your 'Courses' tab. We will send you email reminders about them close to the live dates and you can catch up on demand afterwards if you miss any live.
Which topics will you cover on the GP Trainee Essentials webinars?
We're still working on our full topic list for GP Trainee Essentials webinars but we have a few topics areas we can confirm we are definitely covering: MRCGP top tips webinars for Work Place Based Assessment; Tips for AKT; SCA and data interpretation / statistics. Watch out for more webinars to be added on your 'Courses' tab once you've signed up to GP Trainee Essentials.

As part of signing up for GP Trainee Essentials, you are agreeing to the usual terms and conditions of using the Red Whale website

  • Any codes you receive from the MDU to sign up for GP Trainee Essentials are solely for your own personal use and may be redeemed once only.
  • You must not share any codes with another individual. You can redeem your code anytime during the lifecycle of the product (Aug 1st - Jul 31st) and this will give you access to the content within that product until the end of the training year. The MDU reserve the right to revoke access to GP Trainee Essentials for Affiliate or GPST members who end their membership. As part of signing up for GP Trainee Essentials you are permitting the MDU to share your details with Red Whale, and we may contact you to try and help you get the most from the learning offered within the GP Trainee Essentials package.
  • By signing up to this product, you agree that Red Whale may share your data with The MDU so that they can record which of their members have been given access to GP Trainee Essentials.
